In an investigation that uncovered elaborate plans that included cheating on college entrance exams and affluent parents paying large bribes to get their kids admitted into prestigious schools, 33 parents, 9 college athletics coaches, and well-known actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were just some of the people who were recently caught up in what federal prosecutors are calling the largest college admissions bribery scandal ever uncovered. In addition, some parents and officials even conspired to have student records altered and fabricated to show that they played sports they didn’t play, in order to maintain scholarship status.

Loughlin and her husband, designer, Mossimo Giannulli, are not only charged with the same felony as Huffman, but money laundering, as well. Huffman allegedly paid $15,000 to conspire to cheat on her daughter’s SAT. Huffman was released on $250,000 bail, while Loughlin and Giannulli were each released on $1 million bail.

Because of the high-profile nature of the case and its defendants, experts believe that the accused that choose to plead not guilty will have to post a bond. But it’s also unlikely that a bond amount would be set so high that any of those defendants would stay in custody because of their inability to make bail, given their financial statuses.

Get the Help of a Licensed Bail Bondsman

For those who have to bail a loved one out of jail, but lack the millionaire status, there are licensed bail bonding agents who make it easier to bail someone out of jail by simply posting a surety bond, which is generally approximately 10% of the bail amount. That allows you to bail your loved one out without having to post the entire bail amount, which can hamper any effort to spring them free, if you don’t have the whole amount available to you.

A trusted bonding agent can make the entire process of getting someone out of jail a lot easier; not only by helping out with bail money, but the entire process, from first call through to release. In addition to the experience that a licensed bondsman brings to the table, they also offer the wise counsel and confidence you need in your time of need.
